Welcome to the web page of Department of Agriculture, Hazara University Mansehra. It is an immense pleasure to greet prospective students, current students, alumni, and visitors. The department has an essential role since its inception in 2016 providing industrial oriented agricultural education and research to improve the standard of life and provide food security in the country. Currently we are offering B. Sc. (Hons) Agriculture degree in Plant Breeding and Genetics, Agronomy and Horticulture and in the near future M.Sc. (Hons) and Ph.D programs will be started as well in these disciplines. Presently, the department has classrooms, library, well equipped science laboratories and research farms for conducting research trials. The highly qualified and experienced faculty of the department is committed to deliver a quality education in the field of agriculture in a friendly environment. The faculty also intends to produce highly mannered, devoted and enthusiastic graduates and scientists. Our links with research and academic institutions throughout the country allow us to conduct research in tropical, subtropical and temperate regions. The department will try their best to provide a wide range of facilities for quality education and research. Introduction
Department of Agriculture is working under Faculty of Science. It consists of three specialization, i.e. Plant Breeding & Genetics; Agronomy and Horticulture. Academically, it offers B.Sc.(Hons.) Agriculture (four years degree) in which the students have to study common courses during first 4 semesters. Afterwards the students opt for major choice (Agronomy; Plant Breeding & Genetics and Horticulture) before the beginning of their 5th semester. The faculty imparts practical training to students and enriches its research endeavors through Department Agriculture Research Farms, Laboratories and Agricultural Research Stations across the province. The B.Sc.(Hons.) Agriculture (four years degree) scheme of studies includes an internship program in order to strengthen practical training of students. The teaching staff is highly qualified and trained periodically through local and overseas training programs. Each faculty member has a dynamic research program oriented through one of the departmental research teams. Therefore, Department of Agriculture remains a first choice of students for learning throughout Pakistan. It has gained an esteemed learning place for students from all lingual and ethnic human groups across Pakistan.
