Introduction
Department of Urdu was established at Garden Campus of Hazara University, Mansehra in May-2010. The eminent educationist Prof. Dr. Irshad Shakir Awan took over the charge of his office as founder Chairman on 21st.May, 2010. M.Phil/ PhD programs were started in 1st.semester. Later on Master programme (Urdu) was also launched in the session (Fall 2011).Now Dr.NazarAbid is working as Head of Department since 18/04/2013 till date. Dr.Sabir Kaloorvi Memorial Library has been established in the department containing about 25000 books.All these books were donated by Dr.Sabir Kaloorvi (Late) in his life, A Departmental Research journal ‘’IDRAK’’ has been launched in 2014.Its 06 issues have been published up till now....
Vision
Since a linguafranca is the basic need of a multilingual society like Pakistan, the significance of Urdu as a common language among the masses of our country is quite obvious. The Department of Urdu in Hazara University aims to develop a real taste and awareness about Urdu Language and literature. Besides this, the department of Urdu also endeavors to explore the creative and research abilities of the students as to make them good writers and researchers. The department is also endeavoring to fulfill the requirements as per decision given by the Supreme Court of Pakistan regarding promotion of Urdu as National Language....
