Introduction

Department of mathematics established in 2002. The department started its M.Sc (two years) program in spring 2005, BS (4 years) in fall 2009, MS/M.Phil. (Two years) in spring 2009, and Ph.D. (three years) in fall 2011. This year in 35th syndicate meeting held on July 28, 2017, the competent authority has approved the merging of the Department of Statistics and Department of Mathematics as a Department of Mathematics & Statistics w.e.f fall 2017.

Vision

Mathematics plays a vital rule in the development of students to develop scientific, Industrial and economic approach towards leadership, through learner-centered teaching and research, while strengthening their identity at Regional, National and International level. The department desires to be one of the top research institutions in the country. Further, the department aims to be among the best higher education providers in the region.

Mission

The mission of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics is to believe in the competency of the students towards basic and advance knowledge and hence to provide the students and researchers an environment where they can learn, share and deliver knowledge to become competent users of Mathematics and Mathematical applications in industry and technology. The department has a mission to contribute towards the growth of students and scholars as good mathematical thinkers and to give the society better citizens. The department aims to enable them to present themselves lifelong learners, to get the strong grip in their professions. This mission primarily focuses on departmental development, implication and applications of the research in industry, enhancement of basic mathematics education and advance studies. The department objectives to serve the students at undergraduate, graduate and post graduate levels and also those from other remote areas. For the fulfillment of this mission, the department of Mathematics and Statistics provides a healthy environment where the members of the department prove themselves as devoted teachers and contributing scholars....
