I'm honored to lead the Microbiology department, known for its rich history and promising future. I've seen it grow firsthand, from being a student in the very first class in 2001 to becoming a faculty member and now the Chairman. Over the past twenty years, we've reached great goals. Our highly qualified faculty with intenational exposure with diverse backgrounds delivers exceptional education and collaborative research across various microbiology fields. Our graduates are successful and work in many different jobs across Pakistan and even abroad. The past six years have been transformative. We've constructed seven cutting-edge teaching and research labs, and launched new programs: Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT). Today, with over 800 students, we're one of Hazara University's largest departments. Our commitment to progress is unwavering. We're dedicated to introducing new disciplines, refining our curriculum, and fostering an environment of innovation and productivity. Our ultimate goal: ensuring the department's significant contributions to society continue to grow.
Introduction
Established in 2002, the Microbiology Department at Hazara University is a leading center for teaching and research. We offer various programs, starting with a 4-year Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Microbiology (BSc Hons), providing a strong foundation in microbiology. Later, we introduced postgraduate programs, including a 2-year Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) and a 4-year Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree for deeper research. We also launched a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology in 2019 and a Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2021, attracting students nationwide. Our department has highly qualified faculty, many with PhDs from prestigious institutions in the UK, China, and Malaysia. Their expertise covers all major areas of microbiology, setting us apart. We provide an excellent learning environment with seven modern labs, including three for graduate research and four for undergraduate teaching. These labs have all the necessary tools for advanced microbiology research. We encourage students to participate in extracurricular and social activities. Our students have a strong record of winning awards at university and national levels, showcasing their talent. Graduates from our department secure employment in prestigious universities, colleges, pharmaceutical and food industries, healthcare, and various other sectors.
