Dr. Waqar Azeem Jadoon was appointed as an Assistant Professor (IPFP) in the department of Environmental Sciences in December 2018. He completed his PhD in 2015, undertaking a full-time PhD (2012-2015) into the the understanding of atmospheric polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) pollution in remote and suburban residential areas, within the department of environmental sciences at Hiroshima University. His PhD was funded by Wakayama Prefectural Government under the grant for the protection of plum plants. Currently, his research focuses on the monitoring of environmental pollutants (heavy metals, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, organic carbon and colored organic matter (CDOM)). Specifically, Dr. Waqar is interested in understanding the occurrence, emission sources, human and environmental health related adverse effects of these pollutants. He is also greatly intrigued by the two-pronged environmental remediation techniques using already available byproducts for pollutants removal from natural water and industrial effluents. Dr. Waqar have extensive hands-on experience in the analytical chemistry techniques such as analyses of PAHs, H2S gas, heavy metals, C/N, XAFS, XRF analyses, organic carbon, and CDOM in environmental samples. He is confident in using instruments such as GC/MS, HPLC, AAS, ion chromatograph, TOC and CHN analyzer and spectrophotometer. Additionally, he also have a good command of statistical analysis and computer skills.
