Job Announcement: Research Positions in SNSF-Funded Genomics Project

Applications are invited from suitable candidates to be appointed on a temporary, contract basis under the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) funded project # 10.009.066 titled "Synergizing Long-Read Sequencing and Consanguinity to Uncover Coding and Non-Coding Drivers of Multiple Malformation Syndromes." The project is based in the Department of Zoology, Hazara University Mansehra, under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI).
1. Project Manager (1 Position)
- Qualification:
- Applicants must hold an MPhil/MS in Zoology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or Biological Sciences.
- Preference: Prior experience in similar research projects, sound managerial skills, and relevant publications will be highly preferred.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Lead multi-site project implementation by planning and overseeing recruitments, sample collection, logistics, and coordination with local/international collaborators.
- Manage research operations through team training and supervision, quality assurance, secure genomic data management, scientific reporting, and progress monitoring.
- Coordinate genomic workflows including DNA extraction, international sample shipment, sequencing, imputation, and variant analysis.
- Ensure regulatory and ethical compliance by overseeing informed consent, participant confidentiality, and adherence to IRB/NBC-R approvals and study protocols.
- Support project administration and stakeholder engagement by managing budgets, procurement, timelines, and risk mitigation in remote regions.
2. Research Assistant (6 Positions)
- Qualification:
- Applicants must hold a BS, MSc, MPhil, or MS in Zoology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Biological Sciences.
- Preference: Priority will be given to candidates with prior experience in human genetics fieldwork, specifically sampling in the context of human genetic diseases.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Principal Investigator (PI) in the smooth scaling of the research project.
- Conduct field visits to sample families affected by multiple malformation syndromes.
- Actively participate in weekly project meetings.
Terms and Conditions
- All positions will be filled purely on a temporary/contract basis initially for six months (extendable subject to satisfactory performance and fund availability).
- The Principal Investigator (PI) reserves the right to terminate the contract at any time due to either lack of funds or unsatisfactory performance.
- One or all candidates can be rejected if found unsuitable. The interview can be cancelled without communicating any reason.
- Only short-listed candidates will be contacted for an interview.
- Applications received after the due date will not be considered.
- No TA/DA will be admissible for the interview.
