Dr. Hamid Ur Rahman
Lecturer
Zoology

I am a zoologist with over a decade of experience in research and higher education, specialising in integrative taxonomy, phylogeography, and biodiversity science. My research focuses on documenting and understanding understudied invertebrate and parasite diversity using molecular and morphological approaches.

I specialise in molecular taxonomy, DNA barcoding, phylogenetics, and population genetics, with research spanning parasites, social insects, drosophilids, and terrestrial molluscs. Much of my work has contributed to the first documentation of species and higher taxa from Pakistan, expanding regional biodiversity knowledge.

In addition to biodiversity research, I work in computational biology, including drug repurposing for parasitic diseases and ecological niche modelling to investigate climate-driven changes in species distributions. I have published in leading international journals and actively collaborate with researchers and scientific societies worldwide.
